Alabasta Saga is sometimes called Baroque Works Saga, because Straw Hats and Baroque Works fought against each others. The reason why they must fight is Luffy and his crews helped Princess Nefertari Vivi to return her homeland, Alabasta and save it.

Luffy vs Mr. 3

Mr. 3 is a member of Baroque Works established by Crocodile. His name is Galdino. He ate a devil fruit, named Doru Doru no Mi. This fruit allows Mr.3 can create waxes from his body and make anything from it. For example: He made gloves and boots for Luffy to struggle against Magellan or he created a key to unlock Ace’s handcuff.

Luffy fought against Mr. 3 when they were in Little Garden Arc. Mr.3 was going to kill the giant and Straw Hat priates. At that time, Mr. 3 captured Zoro, Nami, Vivi and the giant. So Luffy tried to struggle him while rescuing his crews. Mr. 3, with helping of  Mr. 5, Miss Valentine & Miss Goldenweek, made Luffy feel very difficult. But finally, Luffy and Ussop gather to rescue their crews and Luffy can defeat Mr. 3.

Luffy vs Wapol

Wapol is the king of the Drum Kingdom. The name of his devil fruit is Baku Baku no Mi. Wapol can eat anything and then he combines with it to create weapons. It made him some nuisance because he felt constantly hungry.

Wapol is a evil king. He forced all doctors in his country to give away except his personal doctors. So it forced his citizens to beg for medical treatment. One of the doctor vitems is Hiluluk, who adopted Tony Tony Chopper as a father. He was killed by a plan of Wapol. Therefore, Luffy fought against Wapol to revenge Chopper, his new nakama.

Luffy vs Crocodile

Crocodile is the boss of Baroque Works. He is also a Shichibukai. Moreover, He is a devil fruit user. It is a Logia-classed fruit, named Suna Suna no Mi. So he can turn into sand. In that time, no one in Straw Hat Pirate know Haki. Therefore, Luffy was defeated easily in the first time. 

He has a bad habit. This is he often leaves the enemies when he sures that they will die. So it is a reason why he lost Luffy. He fought Luffy 3 times and he won Luffy in the first round and the second round. Finally, Luffy gained some experiments and defeated him.
